Blower

A 5 HP blower rated at 850 to 1,150 CFM is standard; a 7.5 HP blower rated at 1,000 to 1,600 CFM is optional. Fan motors are included. The 5 HP blower has the recirculation air-assist feature. Left-hand fan mount facing the control cabinet is standard. Because of the small size of this Chesaw, the 7.5 HP upgrade is not practical.

Safety package

Emergency stop switching, locking electrical cabinet and warning signage. Interlocking tilt chutes give safe, quick access to the cutting chamber to clear jams. Formerly an option, now part of the base unit.

Lubrication

Oil bath lubrication on covered knife spur drive gears for single-speed knife sets. Automated bearing lubrication for all drive bearings is available through an optional Lincoln Lube QLS 301 programmable system with audible and strobe alarm.

Electrical control system

• 480 V AC, 60 Hz, 3-phase, with a 60 A circuit breaker.

Machine dimensions

Overall length, in-line direction: 53 in (1,346 mm). Overall width, cross-machine: 94.6 in (2,403 mm). Overall height 45.8 in (1,163 mm) with the cabinet attached, or 28 to 36 in (711 to 914 mm) with the cabinet mounted remotely on the thermoformer frame. Specify the infeed chute height when ordering.

Maximum sheet width

33.5 in (851 mm). A special infeed chute can be fabricated for wider web, up to 35 in (889 mm).

In-feed drive

Siemens MM4 440/3 3 HP vector drive, 380 to 480 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 3-phase, mounted in the control cabinet. 5 HP available as an upgrade. An Allen-Bradley vector drive is an optional upgrade.

In-feed unit motor

Baldor 3 HP inverter-duty encoderless motor with optional 120 V cooling blower. Upgradeable for heavy-gauge, high-throughput applications. A Reliance equivalent is available as an upgrade.

In-feed gear reduction

56:1 worm reduction, C-series shaft-mounted David Brown gearbox. Larger gearbox and motor available as options.

Cutting unit

Two rows of 66 helically stacked, multi-toothed, aggressive-profile 1/4-inch self-sharpening slitting knives, a scaled version of the larger Chesaw cutting mechanisms. Helical stacking patterns distribute material evenly while keeping oversized material and web tracking to the center of the chamber.

Adjustable scraper mechanism

Side adjustment bolts and dowel pin locators give infinitely variable positions and spacer-to-scraper clearance for optimal cleanout across plastic gauges.

Cutting stack drive

Baldor 15 HP AC induction motor with a 36:48 belt reduction through a 10:1 series 40 shaft-mounted Cone Drive fan-cooled gearbox.
